Anne de Vernal is micropaleontologist, specialist in marine palynology, which is the study of organic walled microfossils recovered from marine sediments. Her research program deals on climate and ocean dynamics at the mid-high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere on time scales ranging from centuries to millions of years. Anne de Vernal has contributed to the development of a dinocyst database for the quantitative reconstruction of sea-surface temperature, salinity, sea-ice cover and productivity, with applications in nearshore paleoecology and paleoceanography.
