James Woollett

James Woollett is a Full Professor in the Department of Historical Sciences at Laval University.  He is a regular member of the Centre d’études Nordiques and Affiliated Faculty at the Graduate Center, CUNY.  He supervises graduate students and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Eastern Arctic and the North Atlantic archaeology, North American prehistory and in the methods of zooarchaeology, landscape archaeology and multidisciplinary historical ecology.  His long-terms research projects in north-central Labrador and Iceland are focussed upon human-environment interactions, landscape history, subsistence, settlement patterns and human impacts, seal hunting and sea ice, and husbandry of animal herds and soils.
